Judge Mrs Loredana Salina-Toma

Thank you for the opportunity to introduce myself.
I am especially honoured to judge Bernese Mountain Dogs in Australia – a breed that holds a very special place in my heart. I was born and raised in Bern, Switzerland – the very homeland of the Bernese Mountain Dog, so I feel deeply connected to its origins, purpose and character. It is a true privilege for me to also judge this iconic Swiss breed.
I have already had the honour of judging Bernese Mountain Dogs at several International FCI shows and at 3 specialty shows and look forward to meeting many passionate breed fanciers here in Australia.
I deeply admire the breed’s strength, its gentle expression, and its loyal, balanced temperament. As a judge, I place great value on correct type, sound structure, and movement that reflects the breed’s working heritage.
About me - I have been a breeder, owner and handler of Newfoundlands under the kennel name Fairweather. Throughout the years, I have earned over 80 championship titles with my dogs across several countries – including International Champions, World Champions, and BIS winners and crufts winner. I’ve always enjoyed handling my own dogs and found great joy in presenting them in the ring. In 2016, I became an FCI judge, Today, I am approved for FCI Group 2, 3 and 5. Judging dogs from this diverse group is something I am truly passionate about – especially the working breeds.
In the ring, I value breed-specific movement, correct heads and sound temperament. I always strive to see the whole dog rather than focusing on small faults, and I firmly believe that judging should support the breeding of healthy, functional dogs.
